In 2024, Raul Muniz completed the bETA accelerator in Washington, DC, with a clear goal: to acquire a business where he could work alongside his family and create local jobs. Just months later, he closed on Speedy Fire Protection in South Florida, launching a new chapter of ownership and creating a lasting legacy for his family and the community at large.
Why ETA
As a technology attorney, Raul had built a strong professional foundation, but ETA offered something more personal. For him, acquiring a business was about building generational wealth and creating the opportunity to work alongside family. During bETA DC, he identified his target, signed an LOI, and subsequently closed in July 2024.
Ownership in Action
Now just over a year in, Raul has expanded his team, added new company vehicles, and is actively pursuing acquisitions in fire sprinklers, alarms, and extinguishers to build a one-stop fire protection platform. His long-term vision: scale a trusted brand that delivers safety, reliability, and economic opportunity across the region.
Impact & Insights
From creating local jobs to raising standards in the fire safety industry, ownership has enabled Raul to contribute meaningfully to his community. He’s found that building trust with employees is both the greatest challenge and the greatest reward.
Advice to Others
Keep pushing toward your goal of business ownership. Stay disciplined in your criteria, but flexible enough to get a deal across the finish line. The perfect deal doesn’t exist; focus on progress over perfection.
The journey has been everything I imagined: fun, stressful, challenging, and deeply rewarding.
